oh, I'm absolutely not talking about expensive and fancy cars! you may find an old used shitty car for £1000 (or less), but that doesn't account for maintenance, fuel or insurance - and if you're buying a car that cheap, it will likely not last many years. vs a bicycle for the same price, no insurance, no fuel, way less maintenance fees, will last longer. that's what I was trying to get at.
defining poor is quite difficult I think, but the closest I can get to it is something like: people who cannot comfortable afford necessities (anything people are expected to have/pay for in society, eg having a phone, sanitary products, bills, 3 meals a day) and to live in relative comfort (you know like... having WiFi in one's home - although I'd argue that's also becoming a necessity, especially in the pandemic). so really, people being able to live a 'normal life'.
