| Comment | I once a companied a client to the doctor as an interpreter. He was a Polish HGV driver in his sixties who recently experienced some chest pains and become concerned. He wanted to find if it would be safe for him to continue driving trucks.
He got a loads of his medical history from Poland with him.
The Scottish doctor spoke with him for few minutes then started browsing those documents (some were in English and even the polish ones usually have the most important bits in Latin).
Then he said "ok so take paracetamol and we'll see how it goes, come back to me in a few weeks".
The polish guy stood up from his chair and took the paperwork from his desks, dug through it and pulled one documents showing it back to him and said "I am not allowed to take paracetamol, it has some dangerous interaction with that other medicine I take!".
"I see" said the doctor and got up to take some book from his shelf. He browsed if for the while, saying "hm" and "I see" to himself then came back to his desk and told: "ok, so you know what we'll do?
You won't take paracetamol and we'll see how it goes, come back in few weeks".
Before we left surgery the client asked me if I can help him book a ticket as he is flying to Poland to see his doctors...
