I'd say the end of October is a magical time as the leaves turn amazing colours before they fall. Head to Kelvingrove park for a nice walk around the west end area to explore and witness the autumnal shades. After that the daylight hours will get much shorter and will be dark from around 5pm which can affect come peoples mood etc.
