Comment | I’m a new-ish teacher so have been through the interview process for Glasgow and other councils recently. Officially, there is no issue with having tattoos which can’t be covered, however, in reality it comes down to whoever you end up getting interviewed by - if they don’t like it they will be able to find some way to not give you the job but this is true of any job.
This being said, I do know colleagues who are tattoo’d but none with finger / face tattoos - most I have sense is full sleeves down to wrists and neck tattoos and they seemed to get on fine.
Ultimately, the key for this will be your behaviour management - you are going to get kids asking about them nearly every lesson and they will try use it to lead you astray. If you can manage to deal with that and keep them on task then you’ll have no problem being a teacher.
Remember, your 1st year after Uni is a guaranteed job at £27,498 (for now, rising slightly soon) so you have a year to prove that you can do it and you would be struggling to not find a job as a STEM teacher after that.
Feel free to DM me if you have any questions - good luck! |
