High St is, as far as I remember, the oldest street in the city and it’s an an abysmal state. It has incredible historic and touristic potential. In an ideal world, we could have a pedestrianised thoroughfare running from the Cathedral and Necropolis, winding down the street to Trongate, the Saltmarket, Glasgow Green, and finally the Clyde. It could be our Royal Mile. Instead, we have a pothole-ridden dump, with derelict shops and those with influence and money clearly no desire to maintain historic locations. Depressing.
