Megabus is the cheapest. But if you book well in advance you can get cheap train or plane tickets.

Maybe even look at the sleeper train. It gets you into Euston station about 7am so you get a full day and could save you paying for a hotel room for a night depending on what time of day you need to be in city

Megabus is not comfortable but very cheap. I can remember going down to London when I was about 19. I got a cheap flight in the morning (but more expensive than megabus). Had that full day then stayed the night and a full day the next day. Got the megabus back overnight. I’m glad that I did it that way. The plane meant that I wasn’t stiff and sore for the stuff I was doing. But I was a bit stiff and sore after getting off the bus back in Glasgow, but that was ok as I had the day to recover without missing out on anything. It was a balance between spending a bit more on a plane (having now used the sleeper id happily do that too if it was a bed) and be nicely rested and mobile on arriving, but save more money on the way back.

Someone has already said it, but remember to incorporate how much it will cost to get into the city if you go by plane when you compare your options
