I wish I could convince my neighbours to be more sustainable, but they are anonymous landlords who just dump loads of stuff out of nowhere, and often in the middle of the night.
GCC might save some money, but that then pushes everything on to private owners in big flat developments like mine (fly tipping will increase and GCC won't touch it so we have to pay private companies to take it away) or it pushes it onto the streets and lanes nearby, where GCC will have to pay.
Either way, it's not an "I pay too much council tax" issue - it's a how to deal with a very real, easily recognised waste problem. A £35 tariff is not the answer. |
