Sometimes. Even for free or unreasonably cheap it can be difficult to get people to pick stuff up, often people that seem interested don't show, or appear to have trouble understanding normal street addresses. I've dumped loads of stuff I'd rather have sold for a £ or two, or for free, but new stuff is cheap enough for most people.
