Is it? Please correct me if not, but when you buy a train ticket, unless it's an advance ticket with a service limited to a single operator like Avanti/LNER/XC/TPE etc., you buy a ticket between two places (Glasgow -> Edinburgh) and you can use any connection(s) you want within reason.

Glasgow tickets usually get sold as 'Glasgow (Any)' which means you can use either Queen Street or Central to go to Edinburgh.

However, which is maybe what you mean, I can see on the ScotRail website you are able to buy a ticket that is limited to CrossCountry services from Central to Edinburgh, which is £3.40 cheaper than the latter mentioned tickets.
