Back in the old days the advice given was "buy a cat" and my advice would be "buy a cat". Girl in my wifes work had problems with mice, she bought a cat and it takes the mice a while to catch on but now she gets the occasional mouse which has strayed in but it has more or less got rid of the problem. When I was younger I used to stay at a little block of houses next to the old railway at Ibrox and scrapyard, every house had at least 1 cat to deal with the rats. The best other thing you can do is leave nothing they can eat about which includes worktops and floors, it might be a pain in the arse but running a hoover over the kitchen and wiping down the worktops, they don't need much to eat with a digestive biscuit prob being enough to feed an army of mice.
