To be fair, most people just don't know about African cuisine and a lot of it can end up being quite similar within regions - the main distinctive cuisines in Africa are typically north african/morrocan, Ethiopian and South African and we just don't get much of it sadly!

It is true though, Ghanaian food is as different to Ethiopian food as Japanese food is to Thai (or possibly even more different).
