This is an excellent suggestion which takes into account that the OP may not be a road cyclist. You could cycle out of Toon on the canal towpath and pick up the John Muir Way in a few places. Toon > Canal Towpath > Kirkintilloch > John Muir Way to Clachan of Campsie then Camp for the night at the waterfalls. Return the next day.
