| Comment | It was ccp policy, under Mao, to export food to soviet countries (Russia, East Germany, Hungary etc), as China had little else of value to trade with.
However, the peasant farmers were unable to meet the production needs of both the food export market and the domestic need for food. Domestically, the food requirements of the urban dwellers were met to some degree, but the peasants, the very people who were producing the food, were left to starve, dying in the 10s of thousands. Then the great famine followed later, leading to the death of 10s of millions (estimate vary from 30 million to 70 million starved to death in a 3 year period.)
All of this mass death a direct result of Mao/CCP policy. The CCP are not a political organisation, the CCP is a death cult.
