I used to let from Clyde Letting. New build. Flatmate punched a hole in the wall after losing at poker. Absentee landlord decided to sell the flat. Clyde letting tried to charge for cleaning (flat was spotless) but not the obvious wall damage. So it was clear to me that they were trying to profit from cleaning fees. I challenged the fees and they said "oh half of the fees we charge were supposed to be paid by the landlord". I asked to see what needed cleaned and asked for a receipt. They then dropped the cleaning charges.
