Down by the park? It's not *the absolute worst bit*, but it'd not exactly the high life either.

I lived in or beside Govanhill (more or less) since the early 90s, it's a lot better now than it was back then. Are there Roma around? Yes. Are some of them absolute arseholes? Yes. But know what I haven't seen in a long, long time? The Young Teams running down Vicky Road knocking the shit out of each other.

Govanhill Housing Association is doing a great job in pushing regeneration through and if you plan to stay for a few years, you could make a nice profit (or not lose too much anyway; I assume you're buying a home and not an investment). The area has had fits-and-starts are improving and giving the number of arty types moving in (they can't afford anywhere else) it might actually make it. Or fall flat on its face once again.

I don't know what you needs or budget are, but I can see flat near the park going for £45-70k, at that price [this fixer-upper](https://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/49140653) might be OK (Dixon Avenue isn't too bad), or there's [this two bed](https://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/48330169).

Cross Vicky Road into Strathbungo and things get better (and more expensive as you get close too and then cross Pollokshaws Road), [for example](https://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/50333745).

Note: I have no connection with any property linked above.
