During lockdowns and restrictions, it was somewhat bearable as you were guaranteed the seat next to you to be empty due to distancing requirements, with seats taken out in front meaning you had some more space.

All the seats are back in now and the coach gets very busy from Manchester, as others can sit next to you.

I’d take the train down.

Or if you want to take the coach, Flixbus have started up with single fares from £10, and you can pay £2.50 each way to ensure the seat next to you is unoccupied.

EDIT: Flixbus don’t run on Tuesday nights.
