Caster Semenya is an intersex woman so I don't think it's really a fair example. I don't dispute that stuff with you and your wife, but one case regarding two people means nothing. Sure there are women that are stronger than men, but in the vast majority of cases men contain a much higher level of testosterone. I read about a study in the last year that showed an initial treatment of testosterone can aid athletic performance for years after, so who knows how much longer that can help trans women who compete against non trans women.

I wouldn't know because my interest is more from the side of doping in sport and thats how I've heard about this topic. Again, it's not for me to decide, I just think that biological realities, as well as the views of women who already compete in those fields, should be taken into account.

I'd just like to point out this debate also has no bearing on the issue of trans women having rights in wider society, they should be granted every right available to the rest of us. I just feel that sport is somewhat different in that we have rules in sport to keep it competitive and to encourage fairness. We don't allow men and women to compete against each other in the olympics for example.
