Used to do it pretty regularly before covid as I had to go down there for work once a month, couldn't afford the train and didn't want to fly. It's honestly not that bad if you've got 1) something to use as a pillow 2) Ear plugs or noise cancelling headphones 3) An eye mask (essential IMO) and ideally something to use as a blanket (e.g. a jacket or a fleece). With all of those you can more or less insulate yourself from any of the horrors others have mentioned. Also don't drink a shitload of booze or any other fluids just before you go, for obvious reasons but do have some snacks handy to keep you going. Other options are definitely more comfortable but for <£10 it's definitely bearable and way less knackering than driving the whole way (which I've also done on numerous occasions).
