Decreasing the number of cars that are actively moving around Glasgow's city centre streets is a good thing though.

The footfall problem is being combatted by encouraging more people to live in the city centre, and by making it an attractive destination for outdoor eating, leisure, and generally spending time. Part of achieving this is swapping some space used for cars to space used for other purposes. Although the LEZ tackles vehicles that over-pollute, there's a wider issue of vehicles having too much of a presence generally in the city centre.
