Entirely fair - I'm not on the spectrum but I found customer service roles \*so\* fucking exhausting, it's draining having to keep up a front for hours on end. Software dev and tech research projects are a very different beast, it's a much more 'focused' type of discussion with a team you get to know over several months/years. As long as you're not actively being one of those arrogant 10x types who alienates everyone while trying to prove themselves 'right'\*, you'll probably be fine.

Not sure if cleaning jobs are back yet, but I'd highly recommend those for a bit of cash while you're a student. They're usually an early start, but I found them so much less stressful than customer service jobs during uni - headphones and podcasts on for a few hours in the morning, then a coffee and a quick subway ride to uni.

(\* worst part is they're often not even as good as they think they are.)
