wasn't really a date because he's my pal but anyhooooo - me and my pal (absolute shagger btw) went to go see 'In The Heights' - he's a music student, I just wanted to spend time with the dude, so I was like fine, I'll pay fucking near enough ten quid for the ticket and another fiver nearly enough for the privilege of a pepsi max. NEVER say no to a pal, right? Cinema had about what? maximum six other people? We went in the middle of the day, weekday, to a musical. Older guy across from us was watching the trailer on his phone, nobody seemed too hyped apart from one couple talking about the movie up the back seats.

Sat there, fucking seething, mind you. Face tripping me, huffing and puffing like a cow. Till about ten mins in, it gets really cringy, but like, not regular musical cringy, stunningly comical levels of cringe. I was loving it. Every other song went like, 'immmmmmm an ethnic minority, im latin, im latin, and allllllsoooo im having financialllllll difficulties (myyyy parents had to immigrate heeeeere, it was hard, it was haaaard) identitttyyyy crisssisss, identitttyy CRIIIISIS, hot love interest, hot love interest (MONEY ISSUE MONEY ISSUE, DID I MENTION IM HISPANIC, IM HISSSPAAAANICC)'. I was honestly having the best time of my life, couldnt even look my pal in the face because we were both struggling to contain ourselves. We got so many inside jokes out of it - every time a character said a cringy line, i'd look at my pal, he'd look at me, buckled as fuck. It was a borderline ten out of ten experience, and if you really REALLY like this girl, you need to take her to see 'In The Heights'. Its perfect. I don't think any film has ever made me smile and laugh that much. Beautiful levels of cheesy-ness. Ticked every box for me, sing-rapping and everything. I love my pal so much more for having experienced this with him.
