But these local communities are being exploited by religion, they always have been. I was raised a catholic, grand parents on both sides with fucking season tickets for the chapel, I've seen the damage it does to people, the guilt and shame that people carry with them for their whole lives as a result of a decision that they made that went against the chapel, or even worse, they were born gay and demonised in their local communities.

I've no sympathy for any religious organisation, not least the Catholic Church and I can only hope that the trend of less people attending church and less people prescribing themselves to organised religion continues.
