Tbf whilst it was common in years gone by to ignore these types of things, the whole its an invoice not a fine situation, be aware that the landscape on this had changed somewhat with a number of cases being brought and found in favour of these firms as effectively you are in breach of contract. You might well get lucky with the value and process thresholds of the company involved but by no means nowadays is it wide to just ignore this stuff without running the risk that a letter from the court will follow. Many of these companies have been emboldened by high profile decisions over the last number of years, including cases of residents being liable for significant sums of money for similar incidents.
Advise would be to take information here with a significant pinch of salt and go somewhere where the knowledge and resources will be more reliable like the Consumer Action Group forum. |
