Usual intellectual laziness from people willing to bash a business who acted entirely reasonably in a hard situation. So very easy to shout about the evil of enterprising companies and get a pat on the back from high school level ideologues.
As the company statement said they asked staff to take unpaid leave until the furlough situation was decided. A minority decided not to and expected to get rehired on furlough when the scheme came through. There is a scenario in that situation where the company becomes insolvent by paying wages leaving no one with a job and the owners unable to start business again. I suppose it’s preferable that everyone goes down with the ship in the name of some perverted sense of fairness? |
