I've lived near Greenock and parents worked there a bit. There's gorgeous nature around but the town itsself has a bad reputation for being dodgy and its pretty bleak.
Again, I've never lived there myself so can't say for sure but it's never been great when I've passed through. I'd never choose to live there personally.
