Used to live in Germany where the bread was infinitely better, but I'd miss the bread here for things like toasted cheese, etc. Eventually found a shop there that had Warbuton's, Kingsmill and the like, and it seemed fresh. They drove it in a van from England and put it on sale the next day, or even the day after that. No idea how they kept it fresh. Surely a day old plain loaf is better than nothing? Perhaps wrap it in tinfoil? Then again, I tried that with Mortons rolls and it made it go stale much quicker, so I have no idea, ha.
