| Comment | If I could chime in with personal experience, I went to Jordanhill Secondary from S1-S5 then left to move to Hyndland.
It's an awful place. Everything is results orientated and nothing else. They refuse to let pupils sit 5 highers unless they are sure that they will pass - this is calculated using a daft UCAS points metric. My maw had to go to the school and tell them in no uncertain terms that I'd be sitting 5 as I didn't have enough points. Passed them all. All they care about is keeping their high ranking.
It's full of wankers - the majority of parents are wankers, who breed children that act like wankers, and are taught by (for the most part) wankers. A lot of bullying. If youre a child who finds it hard to fit in with the 'in crowd' there's a good chance you'll find life difficult. Luckily I got on OK but I saw people struggle.
Had boys in my year sent home to get a hair cut, or to polish their shoes. I once received an 'in school suspension' and spent the day sweeping leaves with the jannies as my friends and the teachers laughed at me. Ridiculous.
Finally, to round things off, I have been told by a friend that the school has the highest rate of suicides amongst former pupils - she does a lot of work with Brothers in Arms so I trust her insight. |
