Seasoned mountaineer here. Camping on a summit is a great experience as long as you correctly forecast. You need to look at summit forecasts rather than just normal weather. For example, every 100m of ascent the temp drops by 1c so the typical Munro is 10c colder than the actual forecast, this increases likelyhood of precipitation
