I'll preface this by saying that I spent 10 years living near Nottingham and got used to the *very* high quality pubs in the area (e.g. The Star Inn, Beeston; The Steamboat, Trent Lock) and on my return to Glasgow I realised that there are almost no pubs here, it's mostly all bars.

Someone has already mentioned the Allison Arms which is a great wee place. Someone else has also mentioned the Laurieston and must say that I was unimpressed when I went there. There was nothing *wrong* as such, I would just had much higher expectations from a CAMRA winner.

Koelschipyard (Pollokshaws Road, Strathbungo) is good if you want to try different, ever changing, beers. In the same area there is Marchtown, Bungo, Zinfandel (never been, but heard it's good). Am also told that the Bell Jar in Govanhill is good, but I haven't been myself yet.

The Corona on the corner by Queens Park is nice. Food on the go and they should have a guest ale or two, but pandemic seems to have thrown a lot of things for a loop.

Linen in Shawlands is alright, but like with so many things just now it was better before *The Event*. Food is usually good and they do (did?) have live music at times.

Curious Liquids has a great selection of wines and beers, but be prepared to pay for the quality. Great mini-pizza Things & cheese boards. Then there's Phillies just behind it if you want more of a party/bar kind of thing.

The Clockwork in Battlefield does food and usually has a few ales on. Good beer garden with a projector screen and they seem to show family movies at times.

The Old Smiddy towards Linn Park is popular, but the only time I managed to get there was just after things reopened and I don't think they were at their best (staff & supply issues I expect). Will have to try them again.
