| Comment | I reckon it's probably a lot safer nowadays due to having technology, GPS etc. 20 years ago when it was probably more popular you had no means of informing friends or family of your whereabouts. You were out on your own with no means of contact.
I guess it depends on the person. If I had the money sure I'd fly or take a train but for a lot of people thumbing was the only way. Not everyone has the luxury and part of living is taking risks. |
