Comment | The orange order isn't a scottish institution, its an Irish protestant one primarily, scotland is just one of many overseas chapters essentially. There was a great bbc article about the orange order in an African country, strangely according to the article if I remember correctly the locals created it themselves after hearing about the orange order, as a way of affirming their protestantism, it wasn't like an orange lodge set up for white colonisers which the locals continued after independence or anything. I can't find the article now. |
