Comment | If it's any consolation, London is also notoriously bad (at least where I live). Quite a few places offer gluten free but don't do anything to prevent contamination. One restaurant confidently recommended me a meal because 'it's really low in gluten, I'm sure it'll be fine.'
Not to sound too poncy, but when I stayed in NYC pre-pandemic, tonnes of restaurants offered contamination free GF options. You paid a surcharge of $1-2 for the extra effort involved, which I didn't have a problem with at all. Wish the UK could adopt this practice, but seems many restaurants don't really give much of a toss about allergies/auto-immune issues tbh. |
