The only reason I mentioned the 2008 crash is because someone said they pay less now (which, they don't - someone has said that they still pay upwards of 9 quid an hour, generally). I said I thought I had started with them prior to the crash, maybe that explains why someone working now would be earning less.
I think it's pretty relevant in the context of someone suggesting that a company pays less now than they did MORE THAN ten years ago, because after 2008, everything got worse!
