If you’re at the royal, even if you did drive it probably would be a nightmare anyway

When I was a medical student I had placements in GRI still lived at home with my parents. I then moved to Shawlands when I was working. The 38 and 57 go past GRI on castle street. They have buses that get there before 7am. Pretty sure they even have them on a Sunday too, which can be an issue with some services. Look along those routes for areas that might work. Have a look at what other buses go past it and if there are areas that are within your budget along them. I used to get on the bus, set my alarm for a bit shorter than the trip should take and then fall asleep (I’m really not a morning person). Also did it on way home after busy days.

There aren’t close train stations but it’s about a 20-30 mins walk to GRI from queen street and Glasgow central. It’s annoying when it’s raining but it’s do-able and good exercise (if you have a bike ask about if it’s feasible to lock it up safely at work and that would speed up your time from station to hospital).

If you’re looking for walking distance to GRI I think you’ll struggle to get anything as most stuff that don’t cost a fortune will be taken by students already

If you know anyone working at the royal, ask them if they’ve seen any posters in staff rooms for flats/rooms as there are sometimes people working in hospitals advertising to let privately to fellow medical or nursing staff on the basis that we should be trustworthy!

Hope this helps. Good luck

Hope some of this helps
