Match days are a bit of a pain, but other than that the area isn’t too bad. You’re near Bellahouston Park which is lovely, there are a few nice places to eat and a couple of decent pubs - the Old Tollbooth is good fun - and your handy for a lot of public transport links. There is a little issue, but a lot of Glasgow has that issue and it’s maddening.

Also, there’s been a spate of old flats been bought up and fixed up for rent recently, and done to a nice standard - instagramable flats for students and young professionals. I think people are hoping the upcoming bridge to the west end in Govan will spur a wee bit of gentrification.

All in all, I’d be more concerned about the year long lease. As others have said here it’s not legal here, nor are holding fees or any other costs up front other than a deposit. The Shelter website has a good breakdown of tenants rights in Scotland so check it out in case you have any other grievances you may not realise yet.
