| Comment | I was in a similar situation a couple of months ago where I’d been invited to a wedding at short notice. When I phoned on the Monday morning, they asked if there was any reason I wouldn’t be able to attend if a trial went ahead. I said I’ve got a wedding at the end of the week, but that I understood this probably wasn’t a valid excuse. I was quite surprised when they said ‘no bother, we’ll excuse you this time but you’ll probably get another citation in the near future’. I’ve now been excused from jury duty 4 times, so have become a bit of a pro at it ;-)
Don’t worry about it too much. Just phone them up on Monday morning, be honest and explain that you have a holiday booked; they’ll probably give you an exemption. |
