If you moved away in the commonwealth games era of glasgow I don’t know that visiting at the moment will raise your spirits.

There has been a lot of closures. Loads. And the city feels different. Of course this is just one persons perspective- but even if crime levels haven’t gone up, it definitely feels like they have.

If you’re coming to hunker down in some old favourite bars- go for it. We are still masks when in indoor places apart from when you’re seated or having a drink etc.

Given that the Xmas period is usually every pub stowed with office workers- who knows what we are in for this year as most of the office workers haven’t returned.

So it’s hard to predict, but you’re going to find it different. A lot has changed and there’s not a huge number of positives. Be prepared for it because if you’re not feeeling great it can affect you adversely.

As always what you choose to spend depends on your personal tastes etc. If you had £25 for a main meal per day and then £5-10 budgeted for lunch I think you’d be living like a king.

That said- if you’re a foodie and you want to go somewhere, do book ahead. Ditto some bars require reservations. It feels the same once you’re there but organising a night out can be an utter pest as walk ins are not necessarily where you’d want them.
