Maybe because we've seen it all before. Garden Festival, City of Culture, Commonwealth Games, various football events.
The massive "People Make Glasgow" sign on the old city college building for instance, the sides of the building were already manky by the time the games started. So your eye is drawn across the skyline by the garish sign and then it takes in the dripping decay on the non-pink side of the building.
Half measures and lipstick on pigs, sums up the whole city and, by extension, the country. |
