I am married and I absolutely insist on going to the cinema alone, theatre events alone, dining alone, going to gigs alone (especially raves!) and best of all - travelling alone! People seem to find this especially difficult to comprehend as I'm 33 year old woman nd have revelled in this joy since independence hit at 18. I hear everything from "wow that sounds so liberating" to friends and my own husband who can be borderline insulted.
It's not that I don't love the people close to me, I just prefer to do what I want when I want without any opinions or sway. To just be me and my own existential dialogues. Open to mini-interactions I don't have to cling to.
