The word I've heard is the Barclays are already looking to rent some of the space out.

As competitors in leased offices end their leases, the arse is going to fall out the commercial property market big style. I work in financial services and blended working is here for a long, long time.

If competitors are offering blended or fully remote working and Barclays insist on their folk being in the office, they'll lose existing and potential staff to competitors.

When I was still Glasgow based, the guidance we had was each employee cost £10k on top of their salary just to put their bum on a seat with a desk, lighting, heating, facilities etc. The savings from blended working are too big to ignore.
