I don't think it would be closed overnight.

It could be downgraded over a period of 10-15 years say. Perhaps the ultimate aim would be to remove the road space entirely. More likely and realistically, it could be kept as a lower volume boulevard. This would mean you still get the benefits of removing the many overpasses and ramps which take up so much space around Anderston.

It would be a slow process, all the while winding down the numbers of vehicles using it as a bypass route. The Scottish Government has a committment to reducing car journeys by 20% by 2030, in line with climate targets.
