Folk will encounter a dangerous driver in a car and think nothing of it but have the odd near miss with a bike and hate cyclists for life.

Glasgow, like most places just doesn't get cycling. Bikes shouldn't have to outpace cars at lights, and they shouldn't ever feel the need to mount the pavement to stay safe. Part of the reason cycling in the Netherlands is so safe is they [plan travel routes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1l75QqRR48) so that bikes, pedestrians and cars stay seperated.
