You haven't said how long a period the £300 bill is for.

Council tax rates are here under 'what do I need to pay': https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/counciltax

For a band D property, council tax plus water rates plus sewerage comes to £1845.18

The default is to pay this in 10 monthly installments, so you should be paying £184.52 a month.

The fact there is a student there makes no difference as the two of you are not exempt, so no discount.

Look under 'reduce my bill' to see if you qualify for any of the benefits based / low income thresholds.

If not, welcome to the world of the graduate.
