Comment | They're kids who were dragged down into a life of crime by a society and family that failed them. They can still be brought back from this, and it'll weigh heavy on them for the rest of their lives. Maybe they're mentally ill too, in which case it's better to treat that and try to rehabilitate rather than lock them up.
Justice doesn't need to be punitive, it shouldn't be about vengeance. Rehabilitation should always be the first point of call, and if they don't wish for that, then we can talk about prisons and punitive justice. |
