Definitely get a guy pal to answer the door next time. Another idea might be to put a note on your door saying something like “amazon and Royal Mail - please post letters or leave parcels by door as on conference calls” but please don’t answer the door in the mean time. If you’ve got decent neighbours hopefully they’ll help you out
