I agree, but I'm not optimistic. When even the least fortunate of our decision makers who matter can rely on affording a property with enough space for a borehole and driveway (before even considering official cars, expensed taxis, etc.) it's easy to see how certain people might not be considered in some types of green society.

Is it that difficult to imagine a Prime Minister saying something like *"Hurrah for Brexit Britain! Hurrah for the environment! No more nasty fossil fuels or old boilers here! ...but enough of $female_opposition_politician!"* while opening a factory making heat pumps?

Banning stuff is easy, whether care is taken to make sure the replacements are feasible or not. I don't trust our governments (to different extents) not to take the easy option and neglect everything else.
