It takes a special level of commitment to being an alcoholic to be able to perform a job that starts as early as being a postman, and be drunk whilst you're at work. I'd assume he's not getting pissed that early in the morning, so he must just finish his shift, get mad with it all day, then go to work still pissed in the morning.
