| Comment | 100% sensible, and yet someone has downvoted you already! If ever I have to use the pavement, I do so at about 2mph and am easily the most alert and attentive person on it - the only 'near misses' I've ever had with pedestrians would have occurred if I were on foot, i.e. someone looking at their phone, doing a dramatic u-turn without looking, etc. And yet many times I've had people of a certain demographic (male, older than me, usually rather portly) shout at me to get off the pavement when I've not been in anyone's way. I usually ask them to point out which cycle lane they'd like me to use instead - oh that's right! There *aren't* any... I don't get it, in 40+ years of being a non-driving pedestrian I've *never* had any issues with cyclists. I think some people just like an excuse to shout at someone in the street. |
