I think you work with those needing help, correct? I may be wrong there.

People have choices. We can cannot always point fingers at 'society' and 'the government' for things like this. Scotland is not perfect, but there are soooo many opportunities given to people here that are completely out of reach from others in different countries, even places like the US. The housing schemes, free education, countless charities that provide resources, and as part of the information sector I have to say that the libraries here are absolutely top notch with offering guidance. At some point people need to apply themselves. The work you do is valuable, no doubt (I really hope I'm right about this...), but eventually those who need assistance will have to learn the skills to be a positive part of society instead of constantly relying on others
