I wouldn’t necessarily rule out places like Shawlands. You might get something for £700-800 for a 30 min bus ride instead of a 15min bus ride which isn’t that much (When I last moved to work I used around 30 mins on a bus as my boundary. You might be ok with a bit longer or need much shorter)

I am biased as I really like Shawlands but it has a lot going for it.

Look along bus route that end at the hospital. I know the 34a goes through Shawlands and finishes at the QEH, and I think the 8 is one of the ones through Partick. Get the First Bus App and use that to judge routes from flats you might consider to work out how long it will take to get to work. Remember to set the time to the correct period for your travels and you’ll get a feel for it

Call and arrange viewings. If you find somewhere that you like you can always ask if they’d accept a later entry date. Some will take it as they’d prefer a definite entry than waiting and hoping. Others will say no, and if you really like it and has already felt like you were going to pay more then you can decide if you’re happy to pay extra

If it is at the queen elizabeth hospital then parking is a nightmare for staff without a permit and just working there doesn’t mean you get one (I’ve worked in many hospitals and I’ve heard from friends who work at that hospital that it is till problematic) so even when you get a car, public transport may be a better option at times anyway

Hope this helps. Give us more details if you think it’s would help get more advice
